Ergonomics Plus’s mission is to help companies maximize their human performance.
Ergonomics Plus is about educating health and safety leaders and those they work with. It’s about providing services that help companies prevent unnecessary injuries. It’s about helping companies do the right thing for their people and simultaneously achieving their business goals. It’s about working side-by-side with people to help them feel better and work better.
The catalyst for all of that is a belief we hold – that, tragically, a mindset exists that musculoskeletal injuries and disorders are a cost of doing business. That they are inevitable.
Together, we can change that. We want to constantly push ourselves and the world of occupational safety and health to do better.
The vision of Ergonomics Plus is to power the shift from treatment to prevention by providing education and services that help health and safety leaders execute a process to prevent unnecessary injuries and enhance human performance.
Today, most investment in worker health is spent on treatment. It’s a passive philosophy; we wait until someone gets hurt and then we fix them with surgery, prescription medications, etc. (This is commonly referred to as the chemicals, needles and knives approach.)
It’s not that treating sick and injured people is evil or wrong. The medical community offers tremendous value to our society and we need these well-meaning people to continue to provide a necessary service.
But it doesn’t make sense to wait until people are sick or injured before we take action. In 2010, musculoskeletal injuries and disorders accounted for 28% of all workplace injuries and were the largest category of health care costs. This is preventable.
We believe in a proactive approach. We believe prevention is better than treatment.
We believe that in the coming decades, more effort and dollars will be proactively spent on helping people stay healthy and at work. A prevention-first mentality is the only realistic solution to America’s poor musculoskeletal and overall health.
Our passion and our goal is to do our part and to help our clients and their employees do their part to make this a reality. Engaging in a partnership for prevention is where it begins.
