Exercise Programs Lead to Better Work Productivity
From: Insurance Journal
A new study finds that letting employees take time off for an employee exercise program actually may lead to increased work productivity. According to researchers Ulrica von Thiele Schwarz, Ph.D., and Henna Hasson, Ph.D., the improved productivity is explained by higher output during work hours and fewer missed work days.
There are all kinds of benefits for maintaining a healthy workforce (what we like to call occupational/industrial athletes). Among them are direct cost benefits – reduced insurance premiums, reduced worker’s compensation claims, etc., and indirect cost benefits – reduced absenteeism and increased productivity.
Beyond making a business case for workplace health programs – isn’t it just the right thing to do? What could your company do with healthy, energized and motivated people? The sky is the limit.
