If you read my colleague Steven’s review of the X3 and X4 chair then you certainly know about the X-Chair company and their commitment to creating a great ergonomic office chair. I had the pleasure of sitting in the X2 chair recently and, to be honest, I was skeptical.
I usually am not a fan of mesh seat pans. Typically, they are made out of cheap material and they don’t provide the same support as a foam seat pan. However, when I sat in the X2, I knew we were dealing with a different mesh chair!
This chair is pretty awesome! It boasts the same awesome features of the more expensive X3 and X4 chair but comes in a more economical price range and has one great feature that I have mentioned already:
K-Sport Advanced Performance Material
The Mesh material on this chair is TOP NOTCH. I don’t know if it is just me or not, but this is the softest mesh material I have ever encountered. It’s supportive, tough and resistant to rips, rubs, and stains, and best-of-all provides a cooling feeling for your bottom as you sit in the chair all day long!
The mesh comes in multiple colors, so it can match any office decor, that way you’re not only getting a great material to sit on but also a stylish one too!
So how does the chair pass the ergonomics test? Well just as with the X3 and X4, the X2 scores perfect marks on the chart:
Chair Feature | X Chair X2 |
Vertically Adjustable | ✅ |
Adjustable Lumbar Support | ✅ |
Good Backrest Comfort | ✅ |
Seat Pan Width Comfort | ✅ |
Seat Pan Cushion Comfort | ✅ |
Seat Pan Tilt | ✅ |
Seat Pan Depth Adjustment | ✅ |
Seat Pan Rounded Front | ✅ |
Adjustable Armrests | ✅ |
And there is more to this chair than just the basics:
SciFloat Infinite Recline
Steven mentioned this feature in his review and I have to agree that this feature is so comfortable! Since my son is home due to COVID-19 and school being cancelled, I had him use the chair to get his opinion too. I was shocked when he said that he would be using this chair as an office chair and a gaming chair! I even thought it might replace one of the chairs at the dining room table!
4- Dimensional Armrests
Our typical vetting process looks for chairs that have armrests that just go up and down. X-Chair didn’t invent the 4D arms options, but we wouldn’t expect anything less out of a chair of this caliber. The arms go – Up/Down, In/Out, Forward/Back, and Tilt on their axis to adjust to the user in every way imaginable.
Dynamic Variable Lumbar
Or DVL as X Chair calls it. This lumbar support is pretty cool. I am fairly used to the typical lumbar pillow, but this feature changes the game. One thing that I like is that the DVL adjusts with you as the day goes on. Lean back, get a smaller lumbar support. Lean forward, and the DVL adapts. Normal lumbar supports just don’t do that!
So, I am pretty hard to please when it comes to choosing an office chair for my clients. Once I find one that I like, it will stay in my repertoire until another comes along and changes everything. Safe to say that the X2 has done that!
I think that my mesh chair mental block may have been eliminated!
