Simple Risk Assessment – ErgoPlus Job Screen

Mastering Ergonomics / Assessing Risk

Simple Risk Assessment: ErgoPlus Job Screen

The ErgoPlus Job Screen provides a relatively simple method to screen jobs with a goal of identifying tasks that have moderate or high risk levels for MSD.

The Job Screen identifies the presence and exposure level of the primary MSD risk factors for nine body segments:

  1. Neck / Upper Back
  2. R Upper Arm / Shoulder
  3. L Upper Arm / Shoulder
  4. R Forearm / Elbow
  5. L Forearm / Elbow
  6. R Wrist / Fingers
  7. L Wrist / Fingers
  8. Trunk / Lower Back
  9. Legs (Foot Pedal)

When moderate and high-risk tasks are identified, further assessment with objective, task-level ergonomic assessment tools should be performed to determine the design goal or recommended weight limit for that task.

The Job Screen tool also provides an overall risk score at the job level, which can be used to quantify the overall risk of the job and to compare jobs across a department or worksite.
