Hi, everyone. This is Mark Middlesworth with ErgoPlus.
After you’ve completed your ergonomics audit, you are now better equipped and have the actionable information that you need to generate and establish your ergonomics management system. Like any other business process, just like your quality management system, for example, workplace ergonomics is really no different, and ergonomics should be managed within a well-defined system.
Without a system, it’s nearly impossible to have an effective process that’s sustainable over the long term, so please don’t skip steps. Make sure you take the time necessary to lay a proper foundation. Conduct an establishment ergonomics audit and use that valuable information to develop a robust ergonomics management system that will align your people, process, and ergonomics management software to accelerate ergonomic success throughout your facility and enterprise.
I would encourage you to check out our Mastering Ergonomics training course, where we detail the ergonomics management system deliverables. The ergonomics management system should document policy, standards, and guidance documents. The policy should describe how the organization wants to reduce ergonomic risk factors. Standards should define the mandatory rules that will be used to implement the policies, and guidance documents should be there, as well, to describe the strategies and procedures that support and sustain the implementation of the policy.
The ErgoPlus System is the process that we use when we engage clients to help them design and develop an effective and customized ergonomics management system. The system has been developed over the last 30 years or so, hate to say it, but 30 years and in partnership with our clients.
Every facility is unique. You know, I’ve learned that over these past 30 years, that you can’t jam a process on a facility. Every facility is unique, and the process does look different in each case, but the structure still needs to be modeled after PDCA, for example continuous improvement cycle, so that it can easily be modified to fit into management systems like ISO 45001, for example, or whatever management system and continuous improvement model that you use.
I encourage you to use this system, the ErgoPlus System, as a framework and as a best practice starting point for your facility. There’s nothing that we want more than to help you build a better workplace.
The ErgoPlus Platform is designed to do just that. So I encourage you to take the next step now.
